I created Afro.Beer.Chick in 2017 as a way to share my love for craft beer and to carve out space for voices like mine in an industry where diversity was and still is limited. What started as a simple blog quickly grew into a platform for honest conversations about beer, culture, and representation.
As a Black woman in the craft beer community, I wanted to show that we belong here too. Afro.Beer.Chick became my outlet to highlight underrepresented brewers, challenge stereotypes, and open up dialogue about inclusion in the industry. I mix my passion for beer with real talk, whether I’m reviewing a new brew, collaborating with breweries, or discussing the cultural side of beer that often gets overlooked.
Over the years, Afro.Beer.Chick has grown into something bigger than I imagined, a community of people who share not only a love for beer but also a commitment to changing the culture around it. My goal has always been to educate, inspire, and create space for others to feel seen, welcomed, and empowered in every pour.
I am a lover of life and all of the madness that comes with it. After being introduced to craft beer in 2009, I briefly served as the local chapter president of Girls Pint Out in Chicago. You can often catch me around the Chicagoland area at various beer events, just look for the chick with a kick ass afro and a beer in her hand.
